چکیده
In this work, we prove the usefulness of morphometric analyses, typically applied to basin-border faults, define tectonic geomorphology a slow-moving, intrabasinal structure: Galera Fault (Guadix-Baza Basin, southern Spain). The is 30 km-long, oblique-slip fault with major left-lateral and minor vertical slip components. Through geological structural for first time detailed surface geometry fault, which characterized by features typical strike-slip faults. analysis indicates that combination slow rates high erodibility juxtaposed basin infill deposits favours rapid landscape response activity erases many effects related active tectonics. This masking more effective on generated displacement, leaving only subtle evidence, such as local stream deflections upstream widening catchments. contrast, geomorphic displacement are better preserved, including control main rivers morphological differences in drainage network between two blocks. On upthrown block, streams generally shorter steeper have greater valley incision, leading development badland landscape. Moreover, deformation Middle Pleistocene glacis (ca. 90 m) demonstrates important role slow-moving generation relief Betic Cordillera during recent Quaternary time. Although impact building very low comparison oblique-slip, faults mountain range, it has key evolution.

Timing of tectonic events in the Alpujárride Complex, Betic Cordillera, southern Spain
Ar–Ar and fission-track dating from four low-grade sections in the Alpujárride Complex sheds light on the timing of the early contractional history of these high-pressure metamorphic units, and their subsequent exhumation during the early Miocene extensional collapse of the Betic orogen. White mica grains from the lowest-grade rocks yield partly reset detrital Ar–Ar ages; where deformation and ...
متن کاملClimatic control on palaeohydrology and cyclical sediment distribution in the Plio - Quaternary deposits of the Guadix Basin ( Betic Cordillera , Spain )
A cyclical pattern can be observed in the central sector of the Guadix Basin (southern Spain) in the Late Pliocene-Quaternary alluvial fan deposits prograding into its axial valley. A climatic significance has been attributed to this cyclicity on the basis of sedimentological and preliminary isotopic studies. The progradation phases of the alluvial fans are here attributed to more arid time int...

A review of polyphase karstification in extensional tectonic regimes: Jurassic and Cretaceous examples, Betic Cordillera, southern Spain
Five karstification phases are recognized and analysed in the Mesozoic carbonate sequences of the External and Internal Subbetic (Betic Cordilleras, southern Spain). These phases are related to important stratigraphic discontinuities in the following ages: (1) Intra-Carixian, (2) Early–Middle Jurassic boundary, (3) late Bathonian–early Callovian, (4) Intra-Kimmeridgian, and (6) late Albian. The...
متن کاملRecent Tectonic Structures in a Transect of the Central Betic Cordillera
The Betic Cordillera has undergone recent Alpine deformations related to the EurasianAfrican plate interaction boundary. Most of the present-day relief has been built up since Tortonian times, and is related to the development of folds and faults that are overprinted on older deformations, and some of the faults may be considered as out-of-sequence. The combination of geophysical and geological...
